Curated By: Vol. 10

This week, I've been pinning like crazy. I don't know what it is...maybe the rain? It's been raining cats and dogs over here which sure doesn't make me want to go outside! And so, I pin and am inspired. I hope that life is a little sunnier for you, but in case you are stuck indoors, try making and baking these. And in case you need a pick-me-up, I've included a couple fun things to buy, as well!

1. This homemade funfetti cake post from My Name is Yeh is a very comprehensive guide to making a perfect looking funfetti cake, including what works and what doesn't.

2. These almond buns from Hungry Brownie would be the perfect start to a cozy day inside.

3. Embracing fall means embracing candles and warm scents around the house. I would love to make my own and Oh Happy Day gives a fantastic tutorial.

4. Painting with watercolours is my current art form, but I have yet to master painting watercolour text. I love this tutorial of the process that Melissa Esplin demonstrates.

5. Ok. I think that this would brighten up anybody's day. How fun is this Confetti Push-Pop?? This would be so delightful at any type of party or gathering!

6. I've been looking for a ring holder ever since my beloved elephant one broke. I love the look of this white and gold giraffe and for $16 you really can't go wrong!

Now go. Go create something magical!

Curated By: Vol. 9

Well look at that. The whole summer has gone by without me doing one of these! I hope you were inspired to create just the same. I know I've been inspired all summer by the wonderful projects and ideas going around the blog world- so many great things! People are just so darn creative these days. This week, especially, I've been pinning a whole lot more and finding all sorts of goodies. Here are the things that have particularly inspired me this past week:

1. I made this recipe for plum crumble last year when I received a bounty of plums. I enjoyed it so much that I knew I had to make it again just to use up the plums in my fridge that were going bad. It was once again enjoyed with fervour!

2. I went on a grilled cheese binge this summer but I wish I had come across this recipe sooner before I was all grilled cheesed out. I don't know, somehow Romesco Grilled Cheese with Gruyere + Watercress may make me revisit the obsession once more...

3. M and I recently went to the beach and gathered as much driftwood as we could carry. I'm finding all sorts of creative projects to use it for including this beautiful bedroom clothes hanger! (original source unknown).

4. Mandi recently posted on A Beautiful Mess showcasing her DIY cake dome and cloche jars. I've never used a cake dome before, but kind of want to just because it looks so pretty!

5. Bridget from Deer Circus posted this incredible tribute to her grandmother today. I am always in awe of writers and Bridget is no exception. This piece is particularly beautiful and I felt compelled to share it. Grief is a very familiar thing for me (and Kristen, I'm sure) and the picture Bridget paints of the physicality of emotion pinpoints it perfectly.

6. And just because we've now entered September (even though I'm not ready to give up summer), a really gorgeous shot of autumnal trees on a lake. The one picture this week that made me think, "hmm, maybe I can do this Fall thing...".

I hope you feel inspired and encouraged as you enter your weekends!

Curated By: Vol. 8

It's that time of week again! It's been wildly busy around here- there are lots of things happening, including...the birth of our first nephew! I think I can speak for both Kristen and I that we are so in love with his cute and tiny self! But in the midst of all the busyness, I've found time to feel inspired by the web world around me. Here are a few of my favourite finds over the past two weeks:

1. We had M's birthday party on the beach on Wednesday and I made a treat that was inspired by this oh-so-tasty looking cookie recipe from The Merrythought. Although I couldn't bring a skillet to the beach, I would have if I could have because this looks AMAZING.

2. I've been pinning popsicle recipes because I think summer is here to stay! I love the hot weather and a nice cool treat always tastes so good to cool down. This recipe turns a favourite thing of mine into popsicle form- Vietnamese Coffee!

3. I've never really been a soap person, but I think my husband has had an effect on me with his love of soaps. Lately, all I want to do is make homemade soap and seeing as I have so many rose petals drying up around my house, this DIY from Henry Happened is the perfect solution.

4. Ok. How cute are these faux oxfords?? Personally, I'm on a pretty tight budget at the moment. And while I'm constantly looking at new shoes, I think this craft would be a great way to satisfy my shoe hunger without busting my budget too much.

5. Speaking of busting budgets, why is it that all I want to do is shop lately?! There are just so many beautiful summer clothes out there. I was incredibly inspired by Kate's outfit posted on her blog, All This Happiness. Those shorts! That top! I must find a pair of vintage floral shorts like that before the warm weather's gone.

6. Ok while we're on the shopping train, all I want lately is a beautiful embroidered dress. This one from Ruche would do me nicely. Here's hoping for birthday money.

Hope you all have a very beautiful weekend filled with new inspiration!

Curated By...Vol. 7

Ok. This is post is coming waaaay too late. And I missed my post for Wednesday. Cet's la vie. Maybe these links will inspire you just the same because I know they sure inspired me this week!

1. I'm a huge sucker for bread. Any kind, really. I try to make a loaf or two every few weeks. And I've been wanting to try out a new recipe just for fun- this one looks absolutely delish.

2. As warm weather starts to make its appearance, I'm starting to really crave all the summer time foods, burgers included. I came across this recipe the other day for an absolute gourmet delight. And anything with goat cheese floats my boat. This whole site is filled with delicious looking food, too. Definitely take some time to look through the other posts!

3. There's a huge weaving trend making its way around the interweb and I want to hop on that train, too. I plan to do that soon because this ingenious diy is a great way to get started on making a small wall piece!

4. We live in an old apartment and old apartments aren't exactly known for their large closets... that's where this beautiful craft would come in extremely handy. We are in need of a big redo to our packed closet and I'm in love with the simple and practical design.

Well, I hope these links give you something to feel inspired by and maybe even start something new on this May long weekend!

Curated By...Vol. 6

Hey Everyone, I'm back with another curated post with interesting finds from around the web! There is so much good stuff going on this week- I had trouble narrowing it down! But these are a few of the things that have caught my attention these past few days.

1. I love the idea of creating cocktails, but since I don't drink alcohol, it makes for a problem when it comes to making fun new drinks. So I've been a bit obsessed with trying out non-alcoholic drink recipes and this one for non-alcoholic sangria is really looking refreshing right now!

2. Ok you guys, I have to gush a little. Our dad is amazing- he spent weeks working on a surprise crepe cake for M and I's wedding last year and it looked gorgeous in the end! It was one of the best surprise gifts I've received. The only problem was, I was was so full of nerves, I didn't even get a chance to enjoy it. And I've always wanted to enjoy a crepe cake as crepes are one of my favourite things! So my goal is to create a crepe cake sometime this year and this one from The House That Lars Built looks so beautiful!

3. I've been enjoying the blossoms outside, but for those of you who have yet to experience blossoms this spring, this is a great way to bring the blossoms indoors. Such an easy craft, but so pretty and vintage looking. I feel like this is something that comes out of the Victorian era. Lovely!

4. If you like embroidery like me, you might feel incredibly inspired by this beautiful embroidered pineapple! While there's no pattern for this one, this blog is a great place to go for any kind of needlework inspiration. It's not in English, but the whole blog is filled with gorgeously delicate embroidered pieces.

5. I loved reading Mandi's post on camera lenses on A Beautiful Mess blog yesterday. I have wanted to get new lenses for years, but didn't really know where to start. This article gives a comprehensive overview of a few different basic lenses and their functions.

6. It was so good to read Shayla and Tesia's article on respecting the Native American culture. This is a topic that can be very prevalent in Canada. As First Nations/Native American trends appear to be trending in the design world, it's important to think about the implications that this might have on a culture. Made me think about what I'm buying and where I'm buying from, for sure!

Well, that's all, folks! I hope you have a weekend filled with delight and creativity.

Curated By Jenni: Vol. 5

Is it already the end of another week? This week has gone by incredibly fast, perhaps because of Easter Monday, but it has felt so full of good things. And I'm finding myself tired, but feeling inspired at the same time. There are a lot of inspiring things going on in the blog world, as well. Here are a few of my favourites from the week:

1. I never used to like eggs because of their texture, but eggs and I have discovered something new in each other and we have been getting quite serious, lately. I tried a Croque Monsieur on Easter Sunday and would love to try making this one for myself.

2. After I make my meal of poached eggs on toast, I think a very tasty dark chocolate coconut macaroon would finish things off nicely.

3. I'm loving this simple jewelry DIY from Paper & Stitch blog. Simple form, pastel colours, gold bands...lovely.

4. And while we're on making things, this is a great way to liven up an inexpensive Ikea stool. Making things look like they came from an expensive, trendy shop is my favourite thing.

I hope you all experience joyful merriment as you head into this weekend!

Curated By Jenni

Happy Friday! I only have four links for you because I realized I haven't been doing a lot of internet browsing this week! I have quite a few projects on the go and have been more obsessed with watching a bizarre show I heard about on Ellen the other day, called Naked and Afraid- anyone else heard of this?? It's so intriguing! Maybe it's just the survivalist (that I wish I was) in me...Anywhooo, although I don't have many links to share, they are real good ones! Quality over quanitity!

1. We made this the other night for dinner: Red Lentils and Spinach in Masala Sauce from Naturally Ella. So incredibly tasty, especially with quinoa and warm naan. I now have more garam masala than I know what to do with, though!

2. Wish I would have had mangos to make this Mango Lassi from TasteMade when we made our meal. Looking forward to trying this out. Ripen, mangoes, ripen!

3. Been obsessed with gold foil lately and this vase from The Crafted Life looks like the perfect way to use it. Have a look at the rest of her projects, too.

4. I came across this project a while back, but am hoping to revisit it and fill our home with springy, citrusy scents. Ahhh. I can smell it already.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend filled with joy and sunshine (literal or figurative)!

Curated by Kristen

1. I've been craving light summer foods as the weather warms. This sandwich looks like a perfect combination of light ingredients with a bit of spice!

2. Apricots also remind of summer. In a couscous balsamic chicken dish? Perfect.

3. I saw this chair at Crate & Barrel last week and have been thinking about it ever since! Reminds me of the old school desk Jenni and I used to 'play school' with as kids.

4. I've been loving everything copper lately. This repurposed pipe is such a neat idea to make your least pretty room a little prettier.

5. More copper! I have to get some of this copper contact paper to make these cute little planters.

6. I know that both Jenni and I have seen mounds of unused wallpaper at thrift stores. This spring wreath is such a neat use of it! I think I might just have to make this.

What things are you finding that inspire spring? Have a wonderful weekend!

Curated By Jenni: Vol. 2

1. I made these Moroccan Meatballs for dinner last night- they were SO tasty. If you make them, don't skimp on the real ginger!
2. I've been obsessed with Naturally Ella for vegetarian meals. I plan on making this yummy looking skillet soon.
3. Bridget over at Deer Circus has some great tips on keeping a small space tidy. Exactly what I need for our tiny home.
4. I've been drawn toward air plants recently, not only because they are totally trendy, but because they seem like a plant I could actually keep alive... These tips should help!
5. There are no words for how beautiful Becca Stadtlander's illustrations are. Perfectly delightful.
6. How cute are Oana Befort's newest temporary tattoo creations?? This is my kind of body ink.
